One of the most interesting things that happened in 2007 was the unthinkable.

Mario and Sonic in a game...TOGETHER!!!!

I'm glad there together I mean it's the ultimate fanboy dream come true.... no not the one involving Chun Li and Samus Aran...the other one.

But it's not the way I had allways pictured it, Yes The Olympic Games was a nice little idea (I have it) but this "best buddies" thing they have going on confuses me.

I grew up in the era of Plumber vs Hedgehog, what is sometimes refered to as "The Golden Age of gaming".

And to see two bitter rivals acting as if it never happened kind of annoys me a bit.

So all the petty cheap shots, snide comments, "Genesis Does" and the "No Hopers*" ment nothing?

Thats bullshit!

I know Sonic will be in Smash Bros Brawl, and it looks pretty awesome to be honest, but in the future... I would like to see a Mario vs Sonic game... No Olympic events, no other Nintendo characters.

Just 12 Mario characters vs 12 Sonic characters, in something like Marvel Vs Capcom.

Now THAT would be the ultimate cross over.


* No hopers was something that appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2, in which Sonic's shoes are seen next to a dustbin, along with Earthworm Jim's gun, with the caption "No Hopers.

Nintendo never seemed to really do the cheap shot things (that was Rare you mentioned). SEGA however.. Did it all the time. >.> I even read something with Yuji Naka a long time ago that implied Robotnik was suppose to be a parody of Mario.

So.. The Mario Sonic games are fun.. but they should show Sonic at least with a distaste for the other characters.. I mean.. Sonic has a slight bit of distaste towards his own buddies.. XD

Yes Rare did that, I ment to say that.

But at the end of the day, Nintendo did license the game.

And it got annoying when Sega kept knocking Nintendo when they didn't have a system to back up there claims.

They only game I can think of that Nintendo edited before licensing was Mortal Combat.. Which was probably the only thing that screwed them over in the 16 bit console war..

Yeah.. The Genesis was at least comparable to the Super Nintendo.. but when you pull out the Saturn as opposed to the 64.. Or worse, the Master System compared to the NES.. Heh.. Thats not going to get you far in a argument..

I can understand that, it must be hard after years of competition to see "old foes" become friends :D
